"Spit & Whittle" weekend
Sept. 5-7, 2008
ends at noon Sunday w/hot dog roast,
Osceola Fairgrounds, Evart MI

This is an informal get together for all carvers. You don't have to belong to a club or organization to attend.  Held at the Osceola County Fairgrounds, Evart MI  (the same place as the Wood Carvers Roundup) and it is open to all carvers or anyone interested in learning the ropes.  It is simply a weekend of carving and whittling  on whatever you like.  For those looking for workshops, some carvers bring blanks and projects for others to to.  There will be lots of visiting and just plain ole' 'R & R' meeting new friends and sharing information.  Carvers can enjoy this social carving weekend just sittin' round carvin' and chattin' with fellow carvers.

"Tools for Woodcarvers" (aka Leather Plus) carving supplies will be here with their carving supplies.  Attendees are also welcome to bring any blanks they may have and sell them.

The Evart Lions Club will have breakfast  Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Lunch served Friday and Saturday.

Saturday evening  we will  have a carvers potluck which is our only planned event. You may purchase chips or goodies from the super market by the fairgrounds if you aren't prepared to bring anything to contribute or you can donate $5.00 so everyone is welcome, even if you are unable to bring food.

After supper carving continues of course.  Sunday morning carving continues and then around noon we will have a hot dog roast over the campfire. We would appreciate your help with "Pick-up-Chips" and everyone is on their way home.

The Osceola Fairgrounds is open for camping all week and is $15 per night.  You may come a couple days early if you like.  Since so many carvers are also recreational musicians, bring along your non-electric instrument and join us for a jam on Saturday evening.  You may come join us any time Friday or Saturday.
